stitch fix august 2015 box

Stitch Fix  is a personal styling service. Your stylist will send you 5 pieces based on your profile for you to try on at home and hopefully fall in love with. There are no coupons for Stitch Fix but if you hit the jackpot and keep everything, you save 25% on your whole fix (read below for details).

If you’re a Stitch Fix regular, I also suggest checking out Wantable Style Edit! It’s very similar but the clothing is totally different.

Everything always comes wrapped so neatly! I was super duper intrigued by that tote!

stitch fix august 2015 style cards

Every box includes a set of styling cards with suggestions on how to wear the particular item. There’s usually a dressed up (right) and dressed down (left) version for each piece of clothing. I do wish these cards were accessible in your Stitch Fix profile. If you email them they’ll send them via PDF. Stitch Fix customer service has been super helpful lately!  I also find the styling cards very helpful. I am not a naturally good-at-fashion person and these help a LOT. Even if I don’t keep the pieces I use them as inspiration.

Here’s how Stitch Fix works: fill out your style profile! This includes style, budget, what you’re looking for, and you can get as detailed as you want with the notes to your stylist. It really really does help to provide notes to what you’re seeking, and a Pinterest board if you have one! You will be charged a $20 styling fee and shipped five items to try on at home. If you keep anything your styling fee will be applied to your order, but if you don’t, you will pay the $20 fee. This is so worth it. If you keep everything you get a 25% discount, so it pays off to be specific. You will check out and get charged through your Stitch Fix account.

Shiraleah Ella Elephant Print Tote 2

Shiraleah Ella Elephant Print Tote ($38)  I love love love the style of this tote! I am a little bummed that it was folded up and has a crease, but I kept it anyways because I got a little obsessed with it – but left my feed back on how it was packed. I am hoping that it will uncrease, but honestly, Stitch Fix just has to do better than folding up a tote, rolling it up, and squashing it.

But for my stylist, she said it reminded her so much of me, and she’s 100% right. I haven’t sent her really detailed feedback in a while, but that’s because I think she’s doing a great job.

I haven’t had it long enough to see if it will unfold.

It has a nice little pocket on the inside too.

Pixley Ivy Petal Print Blouse

Pixley Ivy Petal Print Blouse ($58) This is a simple sort of mod-ish print that I don’t normally go for, but I was really drawn to this one and ended up keeping it! The neckline is a little low for my personal taste (because I am really short and my boobs will totally just fall out), so I’ll probably tack it closed, but I liked everything about this – and when you’re under 5′ tall you usually have to fix your clothes in some way.

Papermoon Seaport Crew Neck Blouse

Papermoon Seaport Crew Neck Blouse ($44) I liked this top and the style. It didn’t wow me, but I liked it.

Papermoon Seaport Crew Neck Blouse side

I love that the silhouette on this top is super flattering and it drapes nicely over your rear! Good matching on the seams.

Papermoon Kacy Embellished Knit Top

Papermoon Kacy Embellished Knit Top ($54) This is such a prettily embellished top! I liked the embellishment paired with the tiny variegated stripes too – it kept it from being too boho or frou frou.

Papermoon Kacy Embellished Knit Top back

It dipped all the way in the back.  I ended up returning this one because my shoulders are really narrow, but I would probably chalk that up to individual fit issues. Probably for most women this top would have worked great in the fit department.

41 Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse

41 Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse ($48) I can and will wear this with absolutely everything. I don’t know if the photos do my beautiful purple shirt any justice, because it’s such a gorgeous color.  I have mixed feelings on the pocket – I’m not sure if it it keeps it from being too fussy or makes it too casual, but I’m pretty agnostic about its presence. The sleeves have tabs so they’re adjustable.

And there’s a little decorative tab on the back.

I have to say, I really liked this selection this month. I have a lot of clothes already so I usually don’t keep all, but I would have if I were looking to totally renew my wardrobe. This was a great fix! I also wanted to make note that compared to some other fashion subscriptions, Stitch Fix is very bra friendly. Extremely so and it is very welcome to me. Probably like most women I have my go to bras and I don’t really want to pull out the ones with fancy strap contraptions except on the rarest of occasions.

Unlike last month, I felt that my August Stitch Fix had a really nice variety. I think every woman is different in that regard – I want to see 3 totally different shirts, and another woman may want to see 3 shirts of similar design to see what works best for her. I think it’s important to relay that to your stylist.
