William’s Honey Farm October 2016 Subscription Box Review

Williams Honey Farm Monthly Raw Honey Subscription offers a monthly subscription of nature’s finest sweetener. They have two subscriptions to choose from: Tier 1 includes a jar of honey and a wooden honey dipper for $11.50 plus shipping; Tier 2 is $27 a month plus shipping and includes a jar of honey, a wooden honey dipper, 2 packs of honey straws, and a fresh bag of flowering seed bombs. This is a review of the Tier 2 subscription.

Everything in the box! The honey was wrapped in bubble wrap to keep it from breaking and there were packing peanuts to cushion the items so they arrived safely in my mailbox. 

Wildflower Honey ($10 for 13 ounces) is exceptionally good; I compared it to the one from the grocery store “honey bear” and found it to be more delicate with a touch of floral nuances. Ok, it tasted like honey, but better. What makes this honey better? Here’s some info from the Williams website:

That is if your grandmother was the kind of gutsy woman who wore a beekeeper suit, climbed trees and scooped out ladles of comb from a healthy hive. Okay, at Williams Honey Farm, we don’t do that either. In fact, the old-fashioned honey you see here may be better than any you’ve ever drizzled on a biscuit.

The reason is that we produce it the way nature does. Without chemicals in the hives. Without heating the honey, because high temperature can kill the enzymes that the bees themselves add for their own good health. Without moving the hives around to increase production.

Before you put it on other foods, try a spoonful. Let sunlight play upon its rich amber color. Then taste it. Notice its complexity, and traces of clover, tulip poplar and basswood.
We love our calm bees. And they seem to be at ease with us. We hope you’ll be happy with what they’ve made for you.

Each shipment includes a brand new Wooden Honey Dipper ($1.13) to help you get that sweet nectar out of the jar and onto/into whatever you like. Herbal tea comes to mind but biscuits, peanut butter sandwiches, and straight outta the jar sound great too. 

I also received two boxes of Raw Honey Sticks ($8 each). Each box contains 15 straws and each straw has one teaspoon of honey. Fun fact: it takes 12 honeybees to produce the amount of honey in each stick! These portable straws travel easily and you just bite one end and the straw pops open so you can pour it in your tea or even your mouth.

Seed Bombs ($5.99) are little chunks of compost, clay, and perennial seeds that are chosen for your region of the country. I live in Texas so I received the South Central blend. Just throw them down in an empty lot or your yard any time of the year and they will eventually grow into flowers that will provide food for bees and butterflies for years to come.

What a sweet subscription! I love raw honey. I use it regularly and I believe it has properties that can help our bodies, including potent antioxidants and antiviral/antibiotic uses. My October box had a value of $33.12, which is about the same as the price of the box plus shipping. I enjoyed the convenience of the straws and the flavor of the honey was just bee-utiful.
