CHEERS!

Bespoke Post always includes a booklet describing the care that went into producing your new treasures and their suggested use.  The Cheers booklet includes some advice on setting up a proper tasting, as well as recommending three obtainable brews that are world class, yet likely still sitting at a beer shop somewhere near you.

The CHEERS box debuted in July 2015 but may still be available – subscribers always have a choice of previous collections. Check out Bespoke Post to see what’s on sale!  Bespoke Post is a little different than most “theme” boxes — the items in the box won’t just reference the theme, they will be useful in doing or exploring the theme.  This month’s selections all help you appreciate, enjoy, or learn more about beer.

bespoke post copper july 2015 hop tasting guide

Hop Tasting Guide:  This handy booklet was put together in collaboration with Finback brewery, a New York beer purveyor.  It includes handy instructions on conducting a hops tasting, as well as some info on the three varieties featured in the Hops Tasting Kit.

Beer Tasting Journal by 33 Books Co.:  This little journal includes formatted pages sufficient to record detailed observations on tastings of 33 beers.

Who knew they would actually suggest starting with a Budweiser?  The hopping instructions take you from start to finish so you can learn the subtleties of hops and become a better drinker.  Or a least a wiser drinker.

The handy format of the beer tasting journal captures a snapshot of each beer.  The only thing missing is an actual snapshot of the beer.  If only they made a camera that was easy to carry around with you.

bespoke post copper july 2015 pistachios

Original Blend Pistachios by The Gilded Nut Snack Co.:  the only drawback with Gilded Nuts is that you will never quite bring yourself to enjoy bargain pistachios again.  Perfectly seasoned (flavorful, but not overly salty), these pistachios are bursting out of their shells.  And they pair wonderfully with beer.

bespoke post copper july 2015 opener and coasters

Bottle Opener & Re-sealer by Hermetus by Westmark:  This little device is ingenious.  It functions as a pop and twist opener, as well as a hermetic sealer.

Felt Coasters, Set of 4 by Graf and Lantz:  the tradition of felt coasters harkens back to the old biergartens, where they were primarily for setting on top of the beer as a fly barrier.  Thick (nearly 1/4″) and sturdy, these won’t scratch surfaces like clay or ceramic can, and, unlike paper or leather coasters, these will not allow liquid to pool on their surface, only to drip on the table.

The underside of the opener is coated with a rubber strip to create a hermetic seal, preserving the remainder of your bottle.

OK, so the bierfilzl history lesson wasn’t drawn from my vast store of useless trivia.

bespoke post copper july 2015 glasses

Teku Beer Glasses by Rastal:  Great glasses with a nice heft.  The stems keep you from warming the beer with your hand, and they keep the greasy fingerprints to a minimum.  The unique design of the bowl is intended to funnel the beer to your tongue in a manner conducive to getting the best tasting possible.  Suitable for all beer types, they are a striking glass — the elegant appearance will keep those wine snobs from looking down their noses at the plebes drinking beer.

bespoke post copper july 2015 hop tasting kit

Hop Tasting Kit by Finback Brewery:  This clever kit features three varieties of hops and will help you train your palate to recognize and appreciate all the subtle flavors of this essential component of all beer.  Includes hop pellets and instructions for preparing your tasting.

Bespoke Post always has some really cool items that will quickly become your treasures.  The CHEERS box is sure to get heavy use around my house.  The coasters, glasses, and opener are well-crafted, beautiful additions to any home bar.
