Roost Crate by Eat Picks is a monthly themed “Farmer’s Market” in a box filled with items from Upstate New York and the surrounding area. Every month, you’ll receive a crate of handmade, artisan-crafted goodies perfect for bath, body, & home.

Roost Crate is $39.95 a month or you can save a bit by signing up for a 3 or 6-month term. All terms, including gifts, will automatically renew until canceled. Boxes will have a value of $40-60.

Roost Crate gives back to their community by partnering with Capital Roots to give a portion of their proceeds to local farmers and vendors. They included a card that shows how you can win a bonus item in your next box by sharing your photos on social media.

My items were packed in paper squiggles with tissue paper and some bubble wrap and everything was in perfect condition.

Roost Crate sends 4-6 items each month such as jams, honey, sauces, snacks, candles, soaps & scrubs, unique home & kitchen items, and coffee & teas. I loved the variety of items that were included in this box and couldn’t wait to give them a try!

There was a card introducing the monthly theme, which was Grill Masters. I live in Texas where grilling can be a way of life but I’m pretty sure most of the country can get behind this cooking style during this time of year!

The flip side of the card had the product information and a short bio about each company featured.

There were a few inserts inside including a note about a couple of bonus items!

RAD Soap Co. Roost Crate Beer Bar Soap ($10?) is a special edition soap made just for this box! It’s a citrus soap made with an IPA beer from Upstate NY. The rest of the ingredients are pretty natural such as essential oils plus hemp and coconut oils. I placed it next to my kitchen sink and enjoy the scent, which doesn’t linger and is perfect for when I’m cooking.

I am enjoying the flavor of Black Sheep Honey Company Bourbon Barrel Honey ($9?) and have been pouring it on my morning granola. Roost Crate suggests paring it with ice cream or grilled pork. It has a wonderful taste since it’s aged in bourbon barrels!

RAD Soap Co. Natural Insect Repellant ($10) has a base of distilled water with grape seed, hemp seed, and castor oils along with neem and lemongrass essential oils. It smells lemony fresh. Turns out it also repels cats – my cat wouldn’t come around me with this stuff on.

B-Safe Bee Repelling Candle by Collar City Candle ($9?) is made with palm wax and is scented with white thyme, lemon, spearmint, and clove. It smells great when you open the jar and is supposed to keep bees away, maybe during those al fresco meals eaten on the patio.

Maple Mountain Maple Barbeque Sauce ($8 + $7 shipping) is from a company that specializes in all things maple! Ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, and maple syrup are some of the ingredients. It has a good flavor and is different from the ones I usually get at my store and I’m looking forward to grilling with it soon!

Healthy Gourmet Kitchen Texas Steak Rub ($4) Aw man, we just grilled steaks last weekend so this will have to wait until next time but I am looking forward to trying it out! The inside of the packet has instructions on how to make a steak butter and also suggests using it on vegetables before roasting.

The back of the packet included the ingredients and instructions for using as a rub. I love that the ingredients are all-natural. I did give it a little sniff and I think it smells great. This Texas girl approves!

Roost Crate Can Koozie was an extra item and features the Roost Crate logo.

Now Designs Kitchen Towel I found a similar towel at Sur La Table here for $10. This is also listed as a bonus and will come in handy as either a grilling guide or to wipe your hands while cooking.

Here’s a closeup of the cow cooking instructions.

I am ready to get my grill on now that I have my June Roost Crate! The items all went extremely well with the theme and are high quality, useful items! The two bonus items completed the box and I was just overall really impressed with the curation and quality. The June box had a value of around $60, including the bonus towel, which means it hit their promised target value, too. I had to guess on the value of a couple of the items but keep in mind that shipping adds even more to the value. Some of these items can be ordered online, but others are only available in the NY area. If you like natural and unique products that you might discover while wandering the farmer’s market, then give Roost Crate a try and let me know what you think of this box in the comments!
